Thomas Bass of Schaefferstown, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Lumberton, NC, to parents Jack and Marjorie (Smith) Bass, but was raised in Fairmont, NC, by his grandmother Mattie Bass.

Tom served in the US Army and was stationed at Indiantown Gap where he met his wife Janet (Lightner) Bass with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage.

He is survived by a son, Thomas, who resides in Phoenix, AZ.

Tom was owner and operator of Bass Auto Sales in Myerstown, PA. Before opening his own business, he managed Manheim BMW in Manheim, PA.

He was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Schaefferstown where he served on the church council and the evangelism committee.

There will be a private graveside service for the family.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society for research.
