Veronica “Kelly” Gates, 60, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was the wife of William L. “Leroy” Gates. On Nov. 28, they would have celebrated their 44th anniversary.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on May 22, 1964, she was the daughter of the late George and Gail Sheldrick Rusnak.

For many years, Kelly had worked as a bus driver for D.B. Fisher. She enjoyed going to the beach and her coffee, and she especially loved spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Jay Gates, and his fiancé, Amy Boger, of Annville, Tyler Gates, of Fredericksburg, and Travis Gates, and his fiancé, Rhiannon Worley, of Jonestown; daughter, Gail, wife of Mike Sweigart, of Fredericksburg; brothers, George Rusnak, of MD, and Donald Rusnak, of Lebanon; sister, Sue Rusnak, of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her Pitbull/Boxer, Bruno.

She was preceded in death by her son, Troy Gates.

In honoring Kelly’s wishes, there will be no services.
