“And so it was that she, having waited so long & endured patiently, realized and obtained what God had promised.”
Virginia M. Garber, 86, of Jonestown, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at her home. She was the wife of the late Rev. Robert E. Garber.
Born in Ridley Park on April 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary E. Findley Fisher. Virginia had retired after working as a CNA at Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. She also faithfully served alongside her husband as they started nine different churches throughout Pennsylvania. She was a charter member of the Fredericksburg Baptist Church and served faithfully. From taking care of the many flowers she planted around the church to caring for the children, Ginny loved serving God any way she could. She enjoyed doing plastic canvas, and was featured in a national crafting magazine that showcased the Christmas Train and intricate gingerbread houses she crafted.
Ginny adored children, whether it was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or kids from the neighborhood. Her door was always open to them and her heart full of love for them. She also enjoyed spending time admiring God’s artistry in nature. She loved word search puzzles, playing solitaire, reading her Bible, and spreading God’s love.
She is survived by her daughters Lu-Ann Garber, of Easley, SC, Robin L. wife of Paul Eckert, of Lebanon and Faith G. wife of Michael Wenrich, of Newmanstown, grandchildren Sara wife of Brandon Pryor, Jeremiah husband of Elizabeth Eckert, Bobby husband of Lauren Shank, Matthew Eckert, Michael Wenrich, and Joseph Wenrich, great-grandchildren Sammy, Emily, and Annalyn Pryor, Jeremiah Jr., Sofia, and Seth Eckert, and Ella and Alex Shank, brothers Edward Fisher, of Columbia, and Donald Fisher, of Washington Boro, and sisters Jane Gestewitz, of Columbia and Emily Brown, of Mt. Death was the last chapter of her time, but the first chapter of her eternity.
