W. Lawrence “Larry” Hess, 84, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital.

Larry was born in Lebanon on July 7, 1939, to the late W. Nevin and Ruth Marie (Noye) Hess.

Larry held the position of city clerk and city treasurer for Lebanon City. He was a CPA and investment counselor. Larry’s passion was Republican politics. He was a member and leader of the Young Republicans in Lebanon County and the Pennsylvania State Young Republicans. He held various positions, both appointed and elected. He was the elected member of the Republican State Committee for over a quarter of a century, making him one of the longest-serving members to ever serve in that position. His involvement at the local level spanned the last 60 years.

Larry was involved with various local political, fraternal, and civic groups: Lincoln Republican Club, American Legion Home Association of Annville, Liberty Fire Company Marching Club of Lebanon, Union Hose Social Club of Annville, Rescue Hose Co. No. 4 of Lebanon, Independent Fire Co. 9 of Lebanon, and the Perseverance Fire Co. of Jonestown.

He is survived by numerous cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Annville Cemetery, Annville, PA.
