Waltraud D. Jernigan, 91, of Jonestown, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Cedar Haven in Lebanon. She was the wife of the late William H. Jernigan.

Born in Alzey, Germany, on April 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Elisabeth (Koehler) Hedderich.

She had a passion for family, civic participation, gardening, woodworking, and knitting. She was known for being the voice and guardian of our family’s history. While we grieve her loss, we are grateful for the love, memories, and stories she has left with us.

She is survived by her daughter, Heide M. Banks, and husband, Gregory, of Yorktown, VA; sons, Danny Jernigan, and wife, Lois, of Mechanicsburg, and John Jernigan, and wife, Carol, of Lebanon; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frieda Gerhart, Imgard Schërmer, and Erika Lissberger.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
