Weide Zhu, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 12th, 2020, in Hershey, due to complications from metastatic cancer. She was a member of Life Gospel Chinese Christian Church.
As a very social and outgoing person all her life, Weide made many close friends in the local community, and she also expressed her love of the arts in many ways. She played the piano and would, on occasion, spontaneously break out in traditional Chinese dance. As she neared 80 years old, she learned to paint, and greatly enjoyed painting nature scenes in her final years. She also composed mini-movies and photo albums and shared them with her extended family members and friends all over the world. Her kind and fun personality will be missed by all who knew her.
Weide is survived by her daughter, Judy Guo, and her husband Lin Guo, son, Zi Wang, and his wife Xiuyun He, grandson, Yufeng Guo, and his wife Deirdre Guo Caffery, grandson, Jason Guo, granddaughter, Chen Wang, and her husband Zhi Li, and niece, Dong Wang, and her husband Russ Smith. There will be a virtual service commemorating her life on Saturday, September 19.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, and their incredible care and attention in the treatment of her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Life Gospel Chinese Christian Church, at 7038 Kendall Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17111, or at lgccc.org.
