William E. Swonger, 94, of Myerstown, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025. He was the widower of Myra June (Maze) Swonger, who passed away on Aug. 12, 2022.

Born in Myerstown on April 30, 1931, William was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte (Swanger) Swonger. He was a graduate of Myerstown High School. He was a 20+-year member of the Jackson Township Board and a member of the Myerstown Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the owner and operator of Swonger Construction and the former owner and operator of the ELCO Hardware Store for many years until his retirement.

Survivors include his daughter, Lorie Salem; sons, Larry Swonger, husband of Barbara, and Douglas Swonger, husband of Denise; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. William was predeceased by his daughters, Sandi Sholley, wife of Kevin, and Sharon Davis, wife of William. There are also several nieces and nephews.

Services and interment are private at the convenience of the family.
