William G. Mills, 79, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at the Reading Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania.
He was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1944, to the late James A. Mills and Laura “Betty” Dickert Mills in Hackensack, New Jersey.
He was raised in Long Island, New York. William served our country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after two years of dedicated service to our country. After moving to Pennsylvania, he attended Lehigh Carbon Community College and earned an associate’s degree in applied analysis. He went on to work as a laboratory technician until he changed careers to work with his hands as a woodworker. William enjoyed being creative, tinkering with electronics, and making art out of anything he could find. He loved going to the Gem Show in Lebanon and yard sales with his wife; he often brought home items he could envision turning into art or jewelry. He was an expert woodworker and jewelry maker. William married his wife, Karen, in 1968 and spent the next 55 years showering her with love and gifts he crafted by hand.
William is survived by his beloved wife, Karen E. Mills, as well as several nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Mills.
William will be interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
