William J. Arnold Sr., 96, of Lebanon, died Sunday, April 4, 2021, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Marcus, Iowa, and raised in Schaefferstown, he was the son of the late Raphael and Hattie (Olendorf) Arnold. He was retired from the trucking industry.
He was a WWII U.S. Naval veteran, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific and a U.S. Merchant Marine. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, VFW Post 23, and Friendship Fire Company. William enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, and music.
Preceded in death by a son, William J. Arnold Jr., and son-in-law, Michael A. Curby Sr., brothers, Mark R., Leroy P., Joseph F., and sisters, Bonita F. Peterson, and Edna May Shoberg.
Surviving is a son, Jonathon W. Arnold Sr. and daughter-in-law, Terry, daughters, Margaret L. (Peggy) wife of Ray. E. Reddinger Jr., Cynthia A. wife of Roger W. Walmer, Amy L. Curby, and Jane M. Arnold, daughter-in-law, Cathryn M. Arnold, thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sisters, Betty J. Nelson, Martha M. Buffenmeyer.
Funeral services Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon with Rev. J.W. Arnold Sr. officiating. Interment in Grand View Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
