Calling all bakers for the 2021 PA PreferredĀ®Junior Baking
Cookies, Brownies & Bars contest to be held on Monday, July 26, at the Lebanon Area Fair. The contest is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Agricultureā€™s PA PreferredĀ® program and coordinated by the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs.

The goal of the PA PreferredĀ® Junior Baking Contest is to encourage young people across
the Commonwealth to participate in Pennsylvaniaā€™s agricultural fairs by showcasing
Pennsylvania grown and produced products in their contest entries.

A contest participant must be an individual amateur baker age 8 through and including 18 years old and a resident of Pennsylvania. The cookies, brownies, or bars entry must include two (2) PA PreferredĀ® ingredients. A comprehensive list of products is available at papreferred.com.

More than 100 fairs across Pennsylvania will offer cash prizes for the best PA PreferredĀ®
cookies, brownies, or bars in the Junior Baking Contest.

The Lebanon Area Fairā€™s contest is a preliminary competition that leads to the selection of
the final PA PreferredĀ® Junior Baking Contest Cookies, Brownies and Bars blue ribbon
winner each January at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. The first place winner at
the Farm Show will be awarded a cash grand prize of $500 for the winning PA PreferredĀ®
cookie, brownie or bar recipe.

Unlike most all other contests at the Fair, this specialty baking contest does NOT require pre-entry. Exhibitors can simply show up with their entry and required paperworkĀ on Monday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. Winners will be announcedĀ at 2 p.m. For a complete list of rules, visit https://www.lebanonareafair.com or contact the contest coordinator Rachel Siegel at (717) 274-1197.
