Steckbeck Engineering & Surveying, Inc., recently promoted longtime team member Jason Chernich to the Director of Surveying position. The promotion was made as part of a restructure in the Surveying Department that established the new SESI Aerial Services Team with the former Surveying department head Mike O’Donnell at the helm of the new team. According to O’Donnell, “Jason is the guy who turns the lights on in our barn every morning. He has spent the last twenty-plus years down in the SESI engine room, shoveling coal every day to keep us going. I would imagine it is not often that someone gets to stick around to see the student become the teacher and the opportunity is not lost on me. Jason absolutely represents an upgrade to the position of Director of Surveying here at SESI.”
A Lebanon County native and Cedar Crest High School alum, Chernich graduated from Thompson Institute in 1995 and began his career with SESI in 2001. As Director of Surveying, Chernich is responsible for overseeing all survey-related work at SESI. He is also project manager for projects such as minor subdivision plans, boundary surveying, construction layout, ALTA/ACSM surveys, lot addition plans, elevation certificates, and as-built surveys.
“We are excited about expanding the Surveying Team with the addition of our drone services and all that SESI Aerial can offer our company and our clients. Mike O’Donnell has such great experience in surveying, and he is able to combine that experience with his drone pilot training and certification to provide even more avenues to problem-solve for our clients and their needs,” said Mandy Lamson, SESI Business Manager.
