Visit Lebanon Valley, the Destination Marketing Organization in Lebanon County has commenced a second county-wide Java Journey. The Java Journey is a self-guided trail that features nine locally-owned coffee shops. The Journey will take place from January 14, 2021 until February 27, 2021.

The rules of the Java Journey are similar to last year. To participate, a customer can purchase a mug and passport for $7 from any of the participating businesses; Timeless Cafe, The Important Thing Cafe, Ancestor Coffeehouse & Creperie, 3J’s Coffee, The Porch and Pantry, Baked Sweet, Sydney Coffee Roasters, and Swatara Coffee Company. Once the participant has purchased these items, they will make their way to the ten shops where they will have the opportunity to purchase a secret menu item that is only made available to those on the trail.

After making a purchase at each location, the participant will receive a stamp from the corresponding business on their passport. Once completed, the participant will drop off their passport to any of the participating businesses, where they will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket consisting of items from each business.

Paige Gregorzek, Marketing Assistant for Visit Lebanon Valley states, “Last year’s Java Journey was such a success. There were many people on the journey who had discovered new local shops and enjoyed

trying all of the different drinks.” Gregorzek has been working with these local businesses to make the Java Journey even better this year. “This year, we have included new coffee shops, new mugs, and an even better experience.”

New ceramic mug for 2021

Due to COVID-19, it is important for all of the Java Journey participants to follow health and safety guidelines while visiting these coffee shops. “This year, we replaced the travel mug with a ceramic coffee cup which participants are encouraged to take home with them. The participating coffee shops will only be offering disposable cups to reduce the spread of germs” says Gregorzek. Before visiting the participating businesses, it is important for everyone to check the Java Journey website for updated hours and information.
