Fire crews responded to a structure fire this morning at 20 Homestead Road in East Hanover Township.
Crews arrived to find fire venting from the roof along the eaves at the rear of the structure and at the rear garage door opening.
First responders were able to suppress the blaze, a feat complicated by the fact that the structure contained several flammable materials such as liquids, car parts, and tires.
The building is used by Weaver Wrecking Yard. According to Pennsylvania State Police, an investigation showed the fire originated just outside of the rear garage door of the building at ground level. Troopers are still investigating cause and ignition source.
One person was injured as a result of the fire, and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries are currently unknown, and we are not identifying them by name due to their status as a victim in this incident. We are seeking more information and will update this post when possible.
Damage caused by the fire is estimated at $50,000.
Update 6:00pm: As a reader notes, this isn’t the first time there’s been a fire at Weaver’s Wrecking Yard. The Lebanon Daily News covered a previous blaze in 2015.
