Construction activity has begun on the future site of Rutter’s at 1655 W. Cumberland Street in West Lebanon Township.
County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz posted to Facebook recently about the development. The store is scheduled to open sometime this year.
Update 6/6: A Rutter’s spokesperson says the store is planned to be open by this fall.
Rutter’s previously confirmed the company was also actively exploring opportunities in the Jonestown area, but no location has yet been announced.
The Lebanon store will sit on the former site of Agway, which was for a period land unfit for use due to remnant fertilizer seepage.
Rutter’s currently has 74 locations, almost all in Pennsylvania. Lebanon County’s only Rutter’s location so far is in South Annville Township.
According to a Central Penn Business Journal report, the store is expected to employ 40-50 people.
