Looking for a volunteer opportunity or a way to help out your neighbors?

The Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging (LCAAA) might have the right opportunity for you with its Meals on Wheels program

Available routes are open Monday through Friday with pickup times between 10:30am and 11am at LCAAA’s 710 Maple Street offices in Lebanon.

Volunteers will deliver pre-packaged meals to a specific route, before returning the meal carrier bags back to the LCAAA office.

These routes are designed to take an hour or less, and volunteers would be using their own vehicles to deliver meals.

Before beginning, all drivers will be trained on the procedures of delivering and shown the route before they are expected to traverse it on their own.

Schedules are flexible and can be arranged to weekly, every other week, or even once a month. LCAAA is also in search of substitute drivers to cover routes in the event that regularly scheduled drivers are unavailable.

The program delivers over 250 meals each day to senior citizens around Lebanon County and has four routes in the City of Lebanon and additional routes in Annville, Myerstown, and Palmyra.

Last year, over 71,000 meals were delivered to 500 consumers with over 1,200 hours donated by local volunteers.

Those interested are asked to contact Stephanie Hafez at the Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging at 717-273-9262 or Shafez@lebcnty.org.
