Bethel Township

This crash occurred on October 6 at 4:02am as Unit 1, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 25 year old Harrisburg woman, was traveling west on I-78 in the left-hand lane in Bethel Township, Lebanon County. Unit 1 was traveling at high rate of speed when operator 1 fell asleep. Unit 1 then failed to negotiate the slight right-hand curve and left the roadway entering the median. Unit 1 initially struck the guiderail before traveling along the guiderail and striking a bridge abutment. After contacting the bridge abutment Unit 1 became airborne and overturned landing on its roof facing north. Unit 1 came to final rest facing north blocking both travel lanes of I-78. Neither operator 1 or passenger 1, a 29 year old Harrisburg woman, were wearing their seatbelt at the time of the impact. Unit 1 had multiple airbags deployed as a result of this impact. Bother operator 1 and passenger 1 were transported to Hershey Medical Center for injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was determined to be under the influence at the time of the crash (although charges have not yet been filed). Unit 1 was towed from the scene. I-78 West was closed for approximately 2 hours during crash investigation and clean up. Traffic was detoured from I-78 at exit 8 during this time. Assisted on scene by Fredericksburg Fire department, Bethel Community ambulance, Western Berks EMS, Penn State EMS, Life Lion, and PENNDOT.

On September 29 at 3:56pm this two vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of SR343 bound and Shirksville Road in Bethel Township. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2001 Harley-Davidson driven by a 55 year old Richland man, was traveling northbound on SR343 behind Unit 2, a 2002 Ford F250 Supercab driven by a 23 year old Lebanon man. Unit 2 started to brake to turn right onto Shirksville Road when Unit 1 rear ended Unit 2. Unit 1 came to final rest in a ditch at the corner of the intersection. Unit 2 pulled off on the shoulder of Shirksville Road. The operator of Unit 1 sustained injuries and was transported to Hershey Medical Center. The operator of Unit 1 was operating a motorcycle without a helmet. The operator oof Unit 2 sustained no injuries in the crash and was wearing her seatbelt. According to the release, operator 1 will be charged with DUI, although no charges have been filed as of yet.

Jackson Township

On September 19 at 5:07am, this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 56 year old Myerstown woman, was traveling north on SR 501 approaching its intersection with Orchard Ln in Jackson Township, Lebanon County. Unit 1 was traveling at an unknown speed when Operator 1 lost control of her vehicle. Unit 1 then crossed over into the oncoming traffic lane and crashed into a ditch off the west shoulder of the roadway. Unit 1 was lodged into the ditch and came to its final rest facing West blocking the South bound travel lane of SR 501. Operator 1 was wearing her seatbelt at the time of impact and reported no injuries at the time of the crash. Operator 1 was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash (however no charges have been filed as of yet). Unit 1 was towed from the scene by CJ Wagner Towing.

North Cornwall Township

Friday, 10-04-2019 16:19 an accident occurred on the parking lot of Santander Band, 1200 block of Quentin Road. A 72 year old Harrisburg man pulled into parking lot and was struck by another man, who was backing out of a parking space. No injuries, both vehicles were drivable.

Saturday, 10-05-2019 12:53 an accident occurred a the intersection of 16th and Cumberland Streets. A 34 year old Lebanon man was traveling eastbound on Cumberland Street and struck the rear of a 46 year old Lebanon woman, who was moving forward towards the intersection. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported.

North Londonderry Township

On October 7 at 4:37am, the North Londonderry Township Police Department investigated a crash where a 19 year old Annville woman struck a deer and her vehicle had to be towed. She was not injured.

On October 6 at approximately 4:50pm, police responded to a one vehicle accident. An 18 year old Lancaster woman was traveling north on Gravel Hill Rd when she lost control of the vehicle while initiating a curve, striking the guard rail. No injuries were reported. The vehicle required towing. The woman was cited for driving at safe speeds.

On October 7 at 12:54pm, a 56 year old Lebanon woman was cited for a stop sign violation after she proceeded into the intersection at Plaza Drive and Maple Street when it was not clear. Her actions caused a second vehicle to hit her car. The second vehicle was operated by a 47 year old Palmyra woman.

A 30 year old Palmyra man was cited for Retail Theft after he failed to scan several items, valued at $131.95, at a self checkout register.

On October 3 at 11:29pm, a 20 year old Palmyra man was found parked in the lot of the North Londonderry Township park, which is closed from dusk to dawn. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct.

On October 5 at 8:52pm, a 19 year old Palmyra man was stopped for a high beam violation. During the course of the traffic stop, the order of marijuana was detected. A small amount of marijuana was recovered from inside the vehicle. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct and Drivers Required to be Licensed.
