The Salvation Army of Lebanon is accepting applications for their Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gift assistance to families in need over the holiday season.
Online applications may be submitted at this link by Oct. 9. The application must be completed by the parent, guardian, or head of household and requires information on children and other household members. Applicants must be able to provide photo ID (driver’s license or a state/government/military ID) and state-issued birth certificates for any child younger than 12 years (or the corresponding documentation from a country of origin). These documents may be uploaded as photographs if completed via cell phone.
Applicants are advised not to register at more than one location; doing so significantly jeopardizes the chances of a successful application. Approved applicants will be notified via email.
“Grab & Go”-style distribution of gifts will take place on Friday, Dec. 11 at the Salvation Army branch located at 1031 Guilford Street in Lebanon between 10am and 3pm. Masks are required and children should be left at home.
The Army is accepting monetary and gift donations for the program and gifts both new and unwrapped may be dropped off at the offices during business hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) through Dec. 8.
In a press release, Lieutenant Ivonne and Marlon Rodriguez, Corps Officers of the Lebanon branch, stated that they expected to aid about 600 families in the upcoming holiday season. The Salvation Army of Lebanon has aided in the distribution of thousands of meals each week for COVID-19 hunger efforts earlier this year.
Lt. Ivonne Rodriguez stated that, “Thanks to the generosity of the community and partner agencies, we are able to provide this assistance, along with hope and comfort, to those in need each year.”
