Police said they became involved Saturday, Oct. 31, around 8:35 p.m. when called to perform a wellbeing check at a home on the 100 block of Mifflin Street. While en route to the home, a second phone call was made to county dispatch informing operators of a possible suicide at the address. (Police said the calls were made from another resident of the home, who was uninjured.)

Police said upon arrival to the Mifflin Street house, they discovered a 35 year old male with apparent gunshot wounds, as well as the deceased 30 year old woman also with apparent gunshot wounds.

The release states that the male was then transported to a local medical facility where he is still receiving treatment at present.

According to the police release, evidence recovered from the scene indicated that after a verbal argument, the male shot the female and then shot himself. Police said the two had been in a relationship. Police did not elaborate in the release on what evidence had been recovered or reviewed in reaching these conclusions, but did state that a handgun had been recovered from the residence.

At present, police have not released names for either the male or female as families are still being notified. A media release with more details is expected in the coming days. Additionally, an autopsy will be performed on the female victim by the Lebanon County Coroner.
