June 7, local author David Bohr signed copies of his latest book The Jewelry of Grace at Swatara Coffee, Co.’s Jonestown location.
While the book was released in November of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic prevented Bohr from promoting it at in-person events until recently. June 3, Bohr had his first book-signing event for the book at the Allen Theatre.
Bohr finds book-signing events to be not only a valuable source of book sales, but also an opportunity to talk to readers about what they want to see.
“One of the things I like about doing the in-person events is I get to talk to people about what sort of books interest them if my books don’t,” he explained. He continued that this may have been part of why The Jewelry of Grace was a romance novel.

Bohr’s first book The Pride of Central, released in December of 2018, focused on a fictionalized Lebanon baseball team.

While a third book is in the works, Bohr plans to focus on promoting The Jewelry of Grace for the rest of the summer before properly starting work on his next novel.
“For the summer, I’m going to focus on this,” said Bohr. “I want to be comfortable with the work on the third book being the number one priority of my writing before I seriously start writing the third book.”
Bohr has several more events planned for the remainder of June: A Q&A and signing event at Heisey’s Diner June 15, 7 a.m.; a signing at Annville Swatara Coffee Company June 21, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and a signing at 3J’s Coffee June 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bohr hopes to do more signing events over the summer, but does not have specific plans for them yet.
“Ideally I’d like to have a few more in July and August, but that depends on how other [businesses] respond to having me at their events,” said Bohr.
In addition to at signing events, The Jewelry of Grace can also be purchased on Amazon.
