Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
Upon the suggestion of one of our followers, Dutch, one of our meals this week entailed a trip to Cumberland St. & Lincoln Ave. Mel’s Diner is a retro style diner with counter and booth seating (they even have a juke box there).

The breakfast menu consists of eggs, French toast, hot cakes, waffles, and classic breakfast meats. Mel’s also offers a hospitable clientele that will make anyone feel like a regular.
Today’s meal included waffle topped with peaches & whipped cream ($7.95) and 2 scrambled eggs with crispy home fries ($3.50). A nice, fluffy plate size waffle with a good crispy edge paired well with the peaches. It made for a sweet start to my day.
The value special of a full plate of eggs, home fries, and toast are enough to fill an appetite of any size.
Our take: Mel’s provides a classic diner breakfast with a friendly neighborhood feel. You can stop in for a quick bite or hang out and chew the bacon with the regulars. If you’re looking for a value breakfast with a taste to match, add this place to your list of stops.
