The Lancaster Barnstormers will hold a special Lebanon County-themed weekend of baseball at Clipper Magazine Stadium this summer.
The Lebanon County shoutout comes as part of a new partnership between the team and the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.
During the weekend of July 1-3, the Barnstormers will be renamed – temporarily – in honor of Lebanon County. An online contest is being held on the Barnstormer’s website to propose names for the team, with suggestions being accepted through March 15 and a fan vote to follow.
The winning name will be announced at yet-to-be-disclosed local location on Friday, April 15, with the person who suggests the winning name receiving four tickets to the Lebanon County weekend games, plus a $100 Barnstormers gift card.
Clipper Magazine Stadium will feature displays from Lebanon County businesses throughout the weekend, and the Barnstormers will take the field wearing special team uniforms bearing the temporary name.
“The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to partner with the Lancaster Barnstormers on this cross-county event,” said Karen Groh, president/CEO of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, in a press release announcing the partnership. “Many of our businesses and non-profits operate in both counties so it just makes sense to work together. We are excited to share all the things that make Lebanon County special during this fun weekend of activities.”
Lancaster Barnstormers president and general manager Mike Reynolds said via press release that the team has seen more and more Lebanon County residents attending their games the past few seasons and wanted to acknowledge their loyalty and “let them know this is their team, too.”
The Lancaster Barnstormers are in the independent Atlantic League, an MLB Partner League.
The Barnstormers’ 2022 season opens April 21 with an away series against the Gastonia Honey Hunters. The team’s first home game is April 29 against the York Revolution.
During the weekend of July 1-3, the Barnstormers will face the Staten Island Ferry Hawks in a three-game home series.
