Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
The time for lunch was fast approaching. I noticed that a friend of mine was hosting a food truck at his business in South Annville so I made plans to swing by.
We had planned to stop by this truck in Myerstown but they ran out of food. Bummer! So today was my chance. Would it be worth the wait?
Ponchos Backyard Grubbin is a BBQ themed food truck with a flare of Puerto Rican. Based within Lebanon County they seem to be out and around quite a bit.

For today’s meal we got the highly-recommended Wonton Tacos ($13) with Spanish rice & beans. Orders are freshly made and prepared while you wait. There were two people ahead of me and I only waited about seven minutes.
This dish comes with three wonton chip shells stuffed with smoked pulled pork BBQ, sesame dressing, tangy slaw, cotija cheese, green onion, roasted sesame seeds, and paprika.
We are fans of homemade wonton chips. So, we had high expectations for this dish. And it surely did not disappoint. Upon the first bite, the meld of flavors jumps out at you. You get a crunch from the slaw on top and wonton on the bottom. The sweet and tangy makes you want to just slow down and get as many bites out of the taco as possible.
Our take: The freshness of the food and the blending of flavors punch your taste buds right away. The wonton shells are hand fried, and taco is stuffed but not overloaded. This will not fall apart on you. We only got one dish today, but I will be getting more from them.
We give this place ?????
