East Hanover Township

Drug Possession – At 7:16 p.m. May 29, police conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Toyota on Allentown Boulevard for a Title 75 violation. Police detected indicators of impairment and conducted a consent search, resulting in the seizure of marijuana and related paraphernalia. A 20-year-old Palmyra man was arrested. Charges will be filed.

Jackson Township

Theft – Police responded to the 100 block of North Ramona Road for a reported gift card scam, which occurred sometime between April 30 and May 3. Police determined that the victim, a 70-year-old Myerstown woman, gave approximately $3,500 to an unknown actor via gift cards.

Drug Possession – At 12:17 p.m. May 18, police conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Mazda Mazda 3 on Kutztown and Mountain View roads. Police detected indicators of criminal activity, obtained a search warrant, and seized drugs and related paraphernalia. The arrestees were a 32-year-old Jonestown woman, a 31-year-old Myerstown man, and a 34-year-old Myerstown man. Charges will be filed.

Fatal Accident – A 54-year-old Myerstown man was killed June 1 in a collision with an SUV on Route 501. According to police, a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer driven by a 47-year-old Myerstown woman was traveling north on Route 501 at about 6:46 a.m. when she initiated a left turn onto westbound King Street without properly clearing the south lane. Her vehicle turned into the path of a northbound motorcycle driven by Joseph Kunder, police said, and the front end of the Honda struck the passenger side of the Blazer as it turned. Kunder was wearing a helmet, police said, but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Myerstown woman was not wearing her seatbelt and sustained a suspected minor abdominal injury. She was transported via Schaefferstown EMS to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment. Both vehicles were towed. Keystone Hook and Ladder, fire police, and Myerstown EMS assisted on the scene. Charges against the Myerstown woman are pending.

Jonestown Borough

Criminal Mischief under $1,000 – At approximately 7:58 a.m. May 25, police responded to West Market and North Walnut streets for a reported vandalism, where an unknown person spray-painted graffiti on a stop sign. North Lebanon Township

Retail Theft – Police charged an 18-year-old Lebanon man with retail theft after he exited the Walmart at 1355 E. Lehman St. without paying for a bike worth $198, according to a report.

Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment – Police charged Francis Nye Jr., 34, of Lebanon, with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment after an incident at the Relax Inn at 1524 E. Cumberland St. on May 12.

North Londonderry Township

Hit-and-Run – At 3:05 p.m. May 24, police responded to the 1100 block of Park Drive for a hit-and-run crash. According to a report, a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Palmyra male struck a vehicle driven by another 17-year-old Palmyra male. The male who struck the other male’s vehicle fled the scene and later returned to the Palmyra Pool parking lot, where he began to do donuts and failed to provide the other male with the appropriate information. Police observed minor damage to the other male’s vehicle. Police cited the male with accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle and reckless driving. The citations were filed through Magisterial District Judge Garver’s Office.

Vehicle Accident – At 6:50 p.m. May 30, police responded to the intersection of South Forge Road and Elm Street for a two-vehicle crash. A vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Palmyra male was traveling north on South Forge Road when a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Palmyra woman initiated a left turn from South Forge Road onto Elm Street. The male’s vehicle struck the rear passenger’s side of the woman’s vehicle. The woman’s vehicle required towing. The male’s vehicle was driven from the scene. Police cited the woman with vehicle turning left.

Palmyra Borough

Hit-and-Run – At approximately 8:47 p.m. May 17, police investigated a hit-and-run crash that occurred in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street. According to a report, a black Lexus sedan damaged a black Subaru that was parked in the area. Police determined a 44-year-old Palmyra man was responsible for the damage resulting from this incident and charged the man with accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle with an expired inspection, failure to update name or address, and eight additional charges.

Richland Borough

Theft Items from Motor Vehicles – During the morning of May 29, police responded to multiple locations in Richland Borough for reported thefts from motor vehicles. Police determined that multiple unknown actors accessed unlocked vehicles and took items from at least nine Richland residents. Stolen items include a Dodge Ram key fob valued at $250, a black UnderArmour backpack valued at $50, a Nine West satchel containing multiple cards and licenses valued at $20, a fully loaded SIG Sauer 9mm magazine valued at $50, a fully loaded Glock 10mm magazine valued at $50, a military deployment challenge coin valued at $20, a wallet containing licenses, credit cards, social security card, and military ID valued at 100, and a fully loaded black Glock 20c valued at $500. Union Township

Hit-and-Run – At 6:25 a.m. May 21, a hit-and-run crash occurred in the rear parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop. A vehicle was backing into a parking space next to a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia occupied by a 62-year-old Chicopee, Massachusetts, man who was legally parked, when the vehicle’s rear bumper area struck the front right fender of the Freightliner. The vehicle then fled the scene. The Chicopee man was sleeping in the sleeper section of the truck cab when the crash occurred but was not injured. Police conducted a canvass of the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle with negative results. There are no security cameras in the area of the Love’s Truck Stop where the crash occurred.
