LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week will sometimes be a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet Tora!

Tora licks.

Tora is waiting for a home at the Humane Society of Lebanon County. She’s “a beautiful brindle” Staffordshire terrier.

Kelly, a Humane Society employee, says this 7-year-old pup was rescued from ACCT Philly, an animal shelter in Philadelphia “where she was time stamped to be euthanized.”

“While she has some trust issues when you first meet her, she is an absolute sweetheart,” Kelly says. “She knows basic commands of sit, paw and down.”

She adds: “Tora has recently started to ‘smile’ when she sees her favorite people. For being considered a senior-aged dog, she still has a lot of spunk and energy. She loves running in our fenced-in yards, playing with stuffies and lounging in the sun.”

Tora rolls!

Tora would need to be the only animal in her new home, Kelly says, and should be with older children. “With her ‘stranger danger,'” she notes, a prospective owner “would need to do multiple visits before adoption so she could learn to trust you.”

If you are interested in learning more about Tora or setting up an appointment to meet her, please contact the Humane Society at (717) 628-1369 or visit the shelter online at lebanonhumane.org for more information on the adoption process.
