LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week will sometimes be a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. On other occasions, the column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

Today, meet Eloise and Nix, a bonded pair of sweet kitties.

According to the Humane Society of Lebanon County, the lifelong pals came to the shelter “after their beloved owner passed away. It is always so heartbreaking.”

“They simply are the sweetest,” a shelter spokesperson said. “When they first arrived in May, they both were very confused and timid. Each day, they warm up. They follow each other around. They sleep near one another. They seek companionship and comfort with one another amongst all the changes they have endured.

“They are resilient but need a home, a place to call their own and heal.”

Eloise

Eloise is a 10-year-old female calico, while Nix is a 9-year-old steel grey boy, the shelter noted. Nix has an ear hematoma from an old injury, but “it doesnโ€™t seem to hurt or bother him. It gives him even more character!”

Angela, a shelter volunteer, “loves to visit with both of them,” and she notes that Nix “absolutely adores having under his jaw rubbed. He purrs and purrs and purrs. He could sit with you for hours and be rubbed.”

Angela also loves to watch Eloise watch the birds. “She looks out the window, watching the birds and chattering,” the shelter representative said. “She also loves rubs on her beautifully marked fur.”

Are you looking for a pair of cats to complete your household? “Eloise and Nix are two sweet souls looking for a forever family to help them decompress and love again,” the Humane Society said. “They both enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Companionship, affection, care and stability are what they crave. Can you open your heart and home to these two precious, deserving souls?”

Nix

Do you think Eloise and Nix are a match for you? They are available for adoption through the Humane Society of Lebanon County. If you are interested in learning more about them or setting up an appointment to meet them in person, please contact the Humane Society at (717) 628-1369 or visit the shelter online at lebanonhumane.org for more information on the adoption process.
