Lebanon County residents can support families battling cancer by attending the 15th annual Ride the Rails for Cancer event on Saturday, June 10.

The train rides will benefit Vickie’s Angel Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization assisting families in nine central Pennsylvania counties, including Lebanon County, with paying bills during cancer treatments. Since its inception in 2009, the Ride the Rails event has raised over $70,000.

Organized by Brian Saul, owner of Brian’s Model Trains in Myerstown, the event aims to give back to the community and help families during difficult times. Saul was inspired to start the event after his niece, Ashley, was diagnosed with cancer at just 3 months old. Ashley, now 13, is a cancer survivor.

This year’s event, hosted by the Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad, will take place at Hoffer Park, at 325 Mill St., Middletown. Train rides will begin at 10 a.m. and run every half-hour until 4 p.m. Tickets are $9 per person, with children under 4 priced at $5, and can be purchased on-site. One hundred percent of ticket sales will go directly to Vickie’s Angel Foundation.

In addition to the train rides, the annual Middletown Arts & Craft Fair will be held next to the event, featuring a craft show, car show, baking competition, and various food options.
