The legendary Marc Summers, renowned for hosting Nickelodeon’s “Double Dare” and Food Network’s “Unwrapped,” is bringing his storied life to the Mt. Gretna Playhouse.
Gretna Theatre will present “The Life & Slimes of Marc Summers” from Aug. 3-6.
Penned by Alex Brightman and scored by Drew Gasparini, the show offers an intimate look into Summers’ rise from a magic-obsessed youngster to a beloved television figure, while also candidly addressing his publicized struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Tickets can be found on Gretna Theatre’s website. Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Summers, apart from being an iconic TV host, is also known for his diverse career in the entertainment industry. His roles range from the executive producer of popular shows, such as “Dinner Impossible” and “Restaurant Impossible,” to memorable appearances on Oprah and The Tonight Show.
Chad Rabinovitz directs the production. Rabinovitz, with over 100 productions under his belt, is the artistic director of constellation stage and screen in Bloomington, IN.
Stage management falls under the hands of Liz Forrester, returning to Gretna Theatre for her third season, and assistant Alexandra “AJ” Marusko, a junior studying stage management at Lycoming College.
The production features costume designs by S. Lionella Feeney, lighting by Jeffrey Small, and sets designed by Christopher Rhoton, who previously crafted the stage for the world premiere of this production.
Johnathan Shuey, a Lebanon County native, returns for his 10th season with Gretna Theatre as the production’s sound designer.
