After years of anticipation, the elimination of a dogleg intersection where Cornwall Road meets two other busy streets just south of Lebanon city has taken the first step from the drawing board to reality.

Demolition of the house at 1320 Cornwall Road began yesterday to make way for a new section of road that will eliminate the zigzag encountered by motorists crossing Cornwall Road at Wilhelm Avenue and York Street.

The current intersection, actually two separated by a few hundred feet, carries traffic to and from the city, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, the Lebanon Plaza Mall, the Lebanon Expo Center, SR 72, a major healthcare complex, and the currently expanding Lebanon High School campus.
