The Isaac Meier Homestead will host Kerzenlicht Nacht, or Candlelight Night, at the homestead, at 525 S. College St., Myerstown, on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is held each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Michelle Voydik, president of the Isaac Meier Homestead, said Kerzenlicht Nacht is “a great way to start your holiday season as the home will be decorated for Christmas.”

During the event, the homestead will be lit by candlelight and open to the public for tours.

Volunteers will serve “hot mulled cider warmed over the fire in the kitchen hearth” and homemade cookies to attendees.

A Christmas caroling group will sing in Pennsylvania Dutch, and two young women will play the harpsichord and the violin.

“The Belsnickel will be visiting for the young and young at heart,” Voydik added.

Parking for the event is located on the north side of the homestead.

Additional parking is located at the parking lot for the William L. Derr Community Swimming Pool off South Railroad Street. A walking path leads from the parking lot to the homestead.

When asked about the event’s accessibility, Voydik noted, “There is one small step to get into the home.”
