Girls on the Run Lancaster-Lebanon, a running program designed to help girls develop confidence and learn critical life skills, begins its 10-week spring season on March 11.

Registration for the season opens Feb. 15. Lebanon Y practices will be held Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The program helps girls in their everyday lives by teaching them to manage emotions, stand up against bullying, develop a positive body image, make healthy choices, stay physically active, and maintain healthy relationships. According to a press release from GOTR executive director Jennifer West, the curriculum for girls in grades 3 through 8 also encourages them to interact with their peers and mentors, as well as focus on helping their community.

The spring season culminates in a 5-kilometer event where girls set a physical goal for themselves and work together to achieve it. This event, which is presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, is open to the public and will be held May 4 at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster.
