On March 7, Lebanon County Commissioners proclaimed March 18 as Transit Employee Appreciation Day in Lebanon County.
Observed nationally, Transit Employee Appreciation Day is a day to recognize individuals who show up each day to ensure the commuting public arrives “safely at the places and people we love,” according to a release from Lebanon Transit spokesperson Mike Ritter.
Lebanon Transit invites its customers to thank transit employees on March 18.
“The most straightforward way to show appreciation is to thank transit employees for their hard work and dedication,” the agency said in the release. “A simple thank you can brighten their day and make them feel valued and appreciated.”
Customers can also write a thank-you note or card to present to employees, or write a commendation (via email or online form) that will be sent to an employee’s supervisor and placed into that employee’s personnel file. Be sure to include the driver’s name, route number, and time, and explain why that person should be commended.
Lebanon Transit encourages members of the public to spread the word about Transit Employee Appreciation Day on social media. “Use #ThanksTransit and tag us @LebanonTransit,” the release urged.
“Transit Employee Appreciation Day is an excellent opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of transit employees who play a vital role in keeping our communities moving,” Ritter said in the statement. “These essential employees play a critical role in our daily lives and their contributions should not go unnoticed.”
