The United Way of Lebanon County is gearing up for its annual Day of Caring, a hallmark volunteer event that draws hundreds of residents together for a day of community service. Scheduled for Saturday, April 20th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the event symbolizes a united effort to enhance the local environment and assist in various community projects.

With over 40 projects lined up, the Day of Caring offers a plethora of opportunities for volunteers to engage in meaningful work across Lebanon County. From beautifying parks to participating in cleanup efforts, the initiative seeks to foster a spirit of unity and improvement throughout the area.

Individuals, families, groups, and corporate teams are encouraged to participate, bringing together the community in a collaborative effort to make a tangible impact. The United Way’s Volunteer Portal on their website serves as the gateway for interested participants to register and get involved.

This year’s projects highlight environmental stewardship and community beautification, including:

  1. Landscaping/Gardening at LCCM Food Bank & Community Garden: Volunteers will engage in mulching, garden preparation, and debris removal, rain or shine.
  2. Litter Clean-Up & Tree Planting at Quittapahilla Educational Wetland Preserve: A chance to clean up litter and plant tree seedlings across the preserve’s seven acres.
  3. Mulching at Coleman’s Park Pavilion 5: The project involves mulching around select trees, shrubbery, and planting beds.
  4. Spring Cleaning at Salvation Army Lebanon Corps: Volunteers will assist in spring cleaning tasks for both outdoor and indoor areas.
  5. Cleaning at Camp Rocky Creek Lebanon Valley Family YMCA: Help prepare the camp for the 2024 summer season through various cleaning tasks.

All of these opportunities are still available for signups both individually and for groups.

Sam Light, event coordinator for the United Way, encourages all residents to join in. “This is an opportunity to unite as volunteers and work together to create a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant Lebanon County. Join us for a fulfilling one-day volunteer experience that will leave a lasting impression on our community,” said Light.
