The North Londonderry Township Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery that took place at Northwest Bank, at 1048 E. Main Street, Palmyra, on Thursday, April 18, shortly after 10 a.m.

Police were dispatched to the bank at 10:09 a.m. Upon arrival, police learned that the suspects had fled the area, according to a news release.

Police said that a preliminary investigation identified a newer model red Honda Civic, which pulled into the drive-thru lane.

“The driver passed a note in the chute to the teller demanding cash and the note claimed he had a bomb,” said police.

The vehicle left the scene and was last seen going south on Plaza Driver after a teller asked a manager to examine the note. Police determined later that the vehicle may have been last seen traveling south on Forge Road/Route 117 towards Campbelltown/Route 322.

The driver appeared to be a white male in his 20s or 30s, according to the police description, with blond facial hair on his chin and a thin blond mustache. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a royal blue baseball cap.

A passenger in the front passenger’s side seat was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.

Police said that using surveillance video, the vehicle was determined to be a Honda Civic hatchback, 2016 or newer.

North Londonderry Township Police have been assisted in the investigation so far by Palmyra Borough, South Londonderry Township, and Derry Township police departments.
