The blues’ biggest event, the Blues Music Awards (BMA) were held Thursday, May 9, in Memphis, TN.

The gala all-star event honors musicians and music releases in 25 different categories. Two of this year’s winners are confirmed for the Billtown Blues Festival.

The 34th annual Billtown Blues Festival takes place June 21 and June 22 at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds, and organizers are inviting blues lovers from across the state to come out for their jam-packed lineup. The festival is organized by the Billtown Blues Association, whose mission is preserving blues music as an indigenous American art form and promoting arts within the community.

Celebrated blues musicians from the BMA will be there in Hughesville for this year’s festival, including Annika Chambers, who received a BMA for Female Soul Blues and headlines the BBA Festival on Friday night, June 21, and Jason Ricci, who won the blues harmonica category and is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
