Update 8 p.m. – Through a spokesperson, Met-Ed said that it is still evaluating equipment at the Third and Willow streets substation to see what caused the outage, and what repairs may be necessary. In the meantime, Met-Ed crews are reconfiguring the network to restore power to customers using alternate power lines. A mobile transformer installed at a Met-Ed substation in Lebanon city tripped off Friday afternoon, June 14, causing a widespread outage.
The mobile transformer had been installed at the utility company’s Third & Willow streets substation following a similar outage which occurred there exactly one week ago on Friday, June 7, when a circuit breaker opened at the substation.

This second outage, which began at 4:21 p.m. Friday, is currently affecting about 4,660 of the utility’s customers in Lebanon County, according to Met-Ed owner First Energy’s outage map. The bulk of these customers are located in Lebanon city, with a few hundred of them located in North Lebanon and West Lebanon townships.
“We have substation mechanics enroute to determine the cause so we can make repairs as quickly as possible,” said First Energy spokesperson Todd Meyers.
Meyers said that the substation feeds the utility’s downtown network.
