Central Penn Doll Collectors Club Doll Show at Lebanon Expo Center

At this annual event vendors will offer for sale dolls, including antique, vintage, modern, reborn, and artist; doll clothing and furniture; bears; and other doll related childhood treasures.
In addition to shopping, visitors can view special doll displays created by Central Penn Doll Club members.
There will be a raffle of more than 40 dolls and doll related items featuring Ruby Red Fashion Friends Sara, American Girl Doll of the Year “Lila” with extra outfits and accessories, and a 25-inch antique French bisque Limoges girl.
Proceeds from the show and raffle benefit the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and the educational programs of the Central Penn Doll Collectors Club, a UFDC member club. The Lebanon Valley Expo Center is conveniently located off of Route 72 and only 5 miles from Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 266 Lebanon/Lancaster. The hall is large, bright, and handicap accessible. There is ample parking, plenty of clean restrooms, and onsite ATM and food concession.

Author Talk at Lebanon Community Library

The Lebanon Community Library will host local author Shirley Ericson on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 pm. Shirley has lived in the area for 32 years, with 17 in Schaefferstown, 10 in Lebanon, and now in Hummelstown. She is retired from the ELCO School District. Since her retirement, Shirley spent two and a half years researching and writing a historical fiction set in her native Maine. The two-hundred thirty-seven-page book was set in 1933 and deals with history swept under the carpet.
In the story, trouble settles in the home and community of the ten-year-old protagonist, Sophie, a Protestant, when her parents discover that she has a Rosary given to her by her best friend, an Irish Catholic Immigrant. During a quest to learn why adults in the community are biased against Catholics, Sophie uncovers some well-kept secrets about the Protestant Church in town and finds a skeleton in the family closet.
The book is aimed at juniors ages ten and older. It has also won a lot of attention and appreciation from adults. On the 18th, Shirley will give a reading, entertain questions, and personalize books. SOPHIE’S GIFTS can be purchased ahead of time online at Apple iTunes, Barnes and Noble, or Amazon. It is also available at Barnes and Noble’s brick-and-mortar store on the Fruitville Pike in Lancaster or may be purchased from Shirley at the Author Talk. It is available in hardcover, paperback, and eBook. An audiobook will be ready for purchase in early winter.
