Free admission. | 4-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 | 1304 Heidelberg Ave., Schaefferstown

Support local artisans and culture this holiday season with Historic Schaefferstown’s annual Christkindlmarkt! This popular event is the perfect time to get some Christmas shopping done and find unique presents. Traditionally, a Christkindlmarkt is an open-air market and takes place in many German towns and villages so that folks may enjoy their Christmas shopping among friends.

Schaefferstown’s Christkindlmarkt is a replica of its European cousin, except that it’s held indoors. Again this year, Historic Schaefferstown is partnering with St. Paul’s UCC in Schaefferstown to host the event. The venue’s address is 1304 Heidelberg Ave., Schaefferstown. Christkindlmarkt will open on Friday, Dec. 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and continue through Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking can be found in the church parking lot off North Carpenter Street. Credit cards and cash are both accepted.

Entry and parking are free to Historic Schaefferstown’s Christkindlmarkt, which features over 20 different artisans selling their crafts. The market features hand-crafted works created by local artisans, including balsam wreaths and Christmas decorations, folk art wood carvings, feather trees, quilt art, hooked rugs, penny rugs, hand-woven gifts, and much more.

“It is a pleasure to watch people come from miles away to enjoy our local artisans. It is rare for anyone to walk out empty-handed!” said Schaefferstown native Brook May.

For more information on the market and the exhibiting artisans, please visit the Facebook page @Historic Schaefferstown’s Christkindlmarkt or call 717-949-2244. Keep an eye on our social media pages for special vendor announcements!
