Have you ever driven past an elaborate Christmas display and wondered how much passion went into its creation?
With inspiration from Frank Weihrauch’s display on Walnut Street in Lebanon, Darrel Moyer’s passion for Christmas knows no bounds. His display, featuring 210 blowmolds and over 20,000 lights, is located at 117 W. Penn Ave. in Cleona.

In an email, Moyer explained that the display, which is on from 5 to 9:30 p.m. every night — weather permitting — takes between three and four months to set up. The front of the display is synchronized to music that is broadcast on 87.9 FM.
The National Christmas Center employee, with the help of friends and family, starts by setting up lights, a process involving thousands of feet of extension cords.

Then, he adds blowmolds and other decor he’s accumulated over the years as a finishing touch.
This year, after helping photograph the Lebanon Area Fair animal judging, Moyer added an animal section to his display celebrating the FFA and 4H programs.
“I look up to the young ladies and gentlemen in the FFA and 4H for all the hard work they put into helping to take care of their farms and their animals, as well as getting their animals ready for the Lebanon Area Fair each year,” said Moyer in an email. “That particular area of my Christmas Display is dedicated to them for all their hard work that they do each day to keep their Farms running.”
Moyer also said in an email that during his Christmas Display, he also collects donations for the Four Diamonds Fund, which supports children with cancer and their families.
For those looking to make an evening of checking out Christmas displays, Moyer and friends have put together a map marking some of the displays in Lebanon County.
