The West Lebanon Township Board of Commissioners unanimously agreed to appoint Brianna Laliberte with Lebanon County Emergency Management Services as the township’s emergency management coordinator at its Feb. 3 meeting.

The county provides EMS services at no charge to municipalities. With the retirement of the township’s previous EMS coordinator John Brenner, commissioners have elected to go with the county’s services.

With an otherwise light agenda, commissioners discussed parks and recreation. Commissioners mentioned that the township (with less than 1,000 residents) previously had a parks and rec committee, but it has since disbanded due to lack of community involvement.

Chairman John Gurganus mentioned multiple projects he hopes the township will be able to undergo with funding from incoming developments. He specifically mentioned repairs needed to the Lehman Street recreation park’s baseball field bleachers, as well as repainting at the concession stand.

Commissioners also heard from township manager Antoinette Issis that the pickelball courts and gaga pit previously agreed upon by the board are expected to be installed in early spring.

In other news, the board:

  • Approved advertisement for sealed bids for trash and recycling collection each Wednesay, with bids needing submitted to the office by Feb. 27. TNT Sanitation, the township’s current provider, has been sold and can no longer provide its services once the current contract is up.
  • Heard and approved various reports, and paid bills as submitted.
  • Unanimously approved minutes for its Jan. 6 meeting.

The West Lebanon Township Board of Supervisors meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and do not require prior registration.
