The post office at 101 S. 8th St., Lebanon, which was renamed the Lt. William D. Lebo Post Office Building in 2024 to honor a Lebanon city police officer who lost his life in the line of duty, will be formally dedicated in a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.

Lebo, a 40-year veteran of the city police force, was killed on March 31, 2022, while responding to a domestic-related burglary incident. He was just 30 days from retirement when he died.

Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) introduced House Resolution 3865 in June 2023 to authorize the renaming, and the bill was cosponsored by Pennsylvania’s entire House delegation. H.R. 3865 received overwhelming bipartisan support, passing unanimously in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and President Joe Biden signed the bill into law on May 13, 2024.

“Lt. Lebo’s four decades of service stand as a testament to his profound commitment to the City of Lebanon,” Meuser said in a statement last summer. “Renaming the post office in his beloved hometown will serve as a lasting tribute to his extraordinary life and legacy of service.”
