This is not just for Campmeeting residents any longer. … It is a weekly event intended for our whole Mount Gretna community to socialize, connect, and fellowship with one another.
Bring your own beverages. Many people bring along snacks, food, or whatever they have lying around to share, but it is certainly not a requirement to attend! Oftentimes, we grill hot dogs, easy peasy lemon squeezy. Come as you are, and enjoy!
First Friday Art Walk at Pho Bar & Grill
7 p.m., Friday, September 5 | 103 W. Main St., Annville
Genres and conventional approaches to songwriting are a thing of the past, a dying art. While this may be the bane and disapproval of many modern music listeners’ experience, an artist like Alex Stanilla uses this approach as inspiration. Stanilla’s music seems to be the result of the internet age and having access to a number of different forms of media at any time. Stanilla’s songs are equal parts electro-pop, hip hop, alternative rock, and jazz with an assorted number of glitches, synth howls, and shouted vocals making their way through the sonic landscape of his songs.
Stanilla’s latest album, “Qualia,” has been described as the lovechild of “The Beach Boys and Bastille,” and he’s described it as an “impression.” “It’s like making an experimental film, very little thought to how things should transpire, but just going to the strangest places possible.” Stanilla already has another E.P. and a full-length ready to be released in the coming months and sees this time in his life as a “musical purge.” For anyone who likes their pop music homemade and created with a great deal of heart and intention, Stanilla’s music is highly recommended.
