In response to the tragic fire that occurred on September 28, 2025, on Church Street in Lebanon, PA — which had a profound impact on both the victims and the emergency personnel who responded — the United Way of Lebanon County is establishing a First Responder Trauma Care Fund.
This fund is dedicated to supporting our local first responders as they cope with the emotional and psychological aftermath of such traumatic incidents.
To launch this initiative, the United Way of Lebanon County is committing $5,000 of its own funds to seed the First Responder Trauma Care Fund. This is just the beginning. We invite local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join us in standing with those who stand on the front lines for us every day.
The brave individuals who serve as firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and dispatchers are often the first to encounter challenging and traumatic situations. In their crucial role of safeguarding our homes, businesses, and communities, they are regularly exposed to high-stress environments and life-altering incidents. The impact of these experiences doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off — it can follow them into their personal lives, affecting their mental health and emotional well-being in profound ways.
Raising awareness about the mental health challenges first responders face is critical. Acknowledging and addressing these issues not only supports their well-being but also ensures they can continue to serve effectively and safely.
Together, we can help those who help us.
