Bakery and coffee shop Baked With A Twist celebrated its one-year anniversary at its current location with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Oct. 31 as the mother-daughter duo that runs the shop highlighted their focus on community and connection to keep customers happy and returning.
Local leaders and politicians attended the ceremony and said a few words about the business. They applauded owner Lindsay Hoppes and daughter Breanna Hoppes for surviving the first year of storefront business and being one of the small businesses that act as the backbone of the economy.
“Google review has them at 5.0 with lots of good things to say about pretzels, coffees, and lemonades,” Lori Brandt, vice president of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, said. “We just want to thank them for their membership, for being part of a community, and a small business, as well, of Lebanon County.”
Baked With A Twist started business in the Lebanon Farmers Market in July 2023 before moving to their own storefront at 718 Poplar St., Suite G, Lebanon, in 2024.

Breanna Hoppes said the first year of business flew by, in hindsight, as the family-oriented team figured out its path. They expanded their menu with additional drinks and coffee with the move.
“When we first opened our doors here, we never could have imagined the incredible community we’d become a part of,” Breanna said. “We’ve gotten to know so many of our loyal customers, and we’ve built not just a business, but life-long and heartfelt friendships.”
Also a marketing student at Elizabethtown College, Breanna said she’s learning about the importance of these connections through real-world experience as she takes her classes. She said the odds of first-time customers coming back are slim, but when they return a second time, businesses then have an 80% chance of another visit. Caring about the people coming through the door and showing interest is integral, she said.
“I always express that with my mom, and she kind of rolls her eyes because I say it a million times a day,” Breanna said. “How can I make this a memorable experience? Not just a ‘Here’s your food, thank you, and have a nice day.’ It’s more like I have learned our customers like the back of my hand.”
She said she makes an effort to remember people’s names and what their regulars have going on in their lives so she can make conversation and check in with them.
Baked With A Twist also works with Lebanon County Christian Ministries by donating its leftovers. Breanna said her inspiration to give to others in the community is faith-driven, and she said it’s her purpose in life.
“I’ve noticed that the more I give back and do for others, the better I feel inside,” she said. “Whether I can only do that through the act of giving back leftovers or picking up a grocery bill when I’m out, or paying for a person behind me, that’s my purpose.”
The business recently received a donation and is putting together 30 care packages of its sweets for families in the community.
