Cornwall Borough Police are attempting to identify a suspect who stole from three vehicles at parking lots near the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail on Wednesday afternoon and later used stolen identification for bank fraud.
The thefts occurred around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at two Cornwall Borough locations — the tennis court parking lot near Cornwall Elementary School and the Root Beer Barrel parking lot along the rail trail at Boyd Street and State Route 419.
The suspect targeted three vehicles, police said. Police described the suspect’s vehicle as a newer model powder-blue SUV, believed to be a 2020 or newer Toyota Highlander in moondust metallic silver. The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Route 419 toward State Drive.
About an hour after the thefts, a purse stolen from one of the vehicles was discovered on the eastbound shoulder of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near mile marker 297 at the Morgantown exit. The identification from that purse was used in a fraudulent transaction at a Fulton Bank branch in Hershey, according to police.
Police released photos of the suspect and the vehicle.

Cornwall Borough Police are asking anyone with information about the thefts or who may have seen the suspect vehicle to contact them at 717-274-2071 or 717-272-2054. Tips can also be emailed to officers Shane Boerst at sboerst@cornwallpd.org or Erik Itzen at eitzen@cornwallpd.org or Chief Brett Hopkins at bhopkins@cornwallpd.org.
