The East Hanover Township Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to advertise the drafted 2026 budget, with no tax increases planned, at its monthly meeting Monday.

The budget includes estimated revenues of $1,238,240 and estimated expenses of $1,124,490, with $113,750 in expected unappropriated funds.

The largest source of revenue for the township is in general funds, followed by gaming and state funds.

The highest expense category is public works ($509,325), including plans to oil & chip and drain tiles. No paving is planned for 2026 as paving was undergone this and last year, but the township is setting aside $200,000 from the state to go toward paving Bullfrog Road in 2027.

The budget is slated for adoption at the board’s Dec. 29 meeting.

In other news, the board:

  • Unanimously agreed to advertise an ordinance establishing speed limits of 25 mph on Appalachian Drive, Log Cabin Drive, and Mount Laurel Lane following a speed study. These roads currently do not have set speed limits.
  • Unanimously agreed to renew CDs of $350,000 in general funds and $102,477.23 in sewer funds.
  • Unanimously agreed to allow the donation of 10% of funds raised from the Apple Cider Festival to Trinity United Methodist Church and Hershey Christian Academy ($230 each), as both organizations assisted with the event.

  • Unanimously agreed to submit a Marcellus Shale grant application for a roof replacement project in H.M. Levitz Memorial Park, which a 50% match budgeted in the 2026 budget.
  • Unanimously agreed to ratify a contract with Rettew Associates Inc. for SALDO review engineer services.
  • Unanimously approved a correction to last month’s minutes regarding a recently adopted ordinance, which was listed as 2025-02 instead of 2025-05.
  • Heard that a DCED regional fire study kickoff meeting is planned for Dec. 15.
  • Unanimously approved the purchase of Christmas hams for employees, planning commission members, and zoning hearing board members, totaling $800.
  • Unanimously agreed to release the remaining financial security of $25,158 for 5 Trout Lake Lane, a single-family home.
  • Unanimously agreed to accept the as-built plan for 7 Sawmill Lane at the recommendation of the planning commission.
  • Unanimously agreed to approve a sewage facilities planning waiver and non-building declaration for 29 Race Horse Drive, a lot addition plan.
  • Heard reports and unanimously approved minutes.

The East Hanover Township Board of Supervisors meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and do not require prior registration.
