Lebanon County will officially launch its participation in the statewide celebration of America’s 250th birthday with a community kickoff rally Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Lebanon County Historical Society.

The event, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at 924 Cumberland St., is part of the America250PA Kick Off Events Tour, which is traveling to communities across the commonwealth ahead of the nation’s semiquincentennial on July 4.

“Pennsylvania has always stood at the heart of our nation’s story, and Lebanon County is honored to help launch this historic celebration,” said Bonnie Loy, chairperson of the Lebanon 250PA Committee. “As we begin the journey to our sesquicentennial celebration on July 4, we reflect on our shared past with pride and look ahead with hope, unity, and a renewed commitment to the ideals that define America.”

The rally will feature remarks from local and state leaders, custom county signage, commemorative items and light refreshments.

America250PA was established by the Pennsylvania Legislature and governor in 2018 to coordinate the commonwealth’s commemoration of the historic milestone. The tour aims to highlight the people, places and stories that make each county unique.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP online by Jan. 12. More information about Lebanon County’s celebration of the country’s 250th birthday can be found on the official LebanonPA250.com website.
