Agency on Aging offers free help for expanded property tax/rent rebates

The Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging will provide free application assistance for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program for the 2025 benefit year.

Following recent state expansions, more residents are eligible for rebates of up to $1,000, according to a press release from Bonner Davis, volunteer coordinator for the agency.

The program is open to Pennsylvania residents 65 and older, widows and widowers 50 and older, and people with disabilities 18 and older, the release explains. For the 2025 benefit year, income caps have remained at the expanded level of $48,110 for homeowners and renters (with 50% of Social Security income excluded from the calculation).

“Navigating state forms can be a hurdle for many of our neighbors,” Davis said in the release. “Our goal is to ensure every eligible senior and individual with a disability in Lebanon County receives the financial relief they are entitled to under the law.”

Assistance is available by appointment only, which can be made by calling the agency at 717-273-9262. Residents are encouraged to call early as schedules fill up quickly. Deadline is June 30 to apply for the 2025 rebate.

According to the release, applicants must provide documentation of all 2025 income, including Social Security (SSA-1099), pensions, and interest. Homeowners must provide proof of 2025 taxes paid, while renters must provide a signed 2025 rent certificate from their landlord.
