Making a Difference of Lebanon, PA’s Education Committee is teaming up with the Myerstown Community Library to host a Creative Writing Contest all month long in February!
This year’s theme is “what supporting your community means to you.” Ages 9 and under, 10-14, and 15-18 can respond to this same inspiring prompt with poems, short stories, essays, letters, speeches, scripts, comics, song lyrics—any form of creative writing—between Feb. 1-20. Email submissions to makingadifferencelebanonpa@gmail.com.
First, second, and third place winners in each age group will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 28.
We can’t wait to read what our amazing local youth create!

Join us at the Lebanon Farmers Market on Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14, for delicious pie and community spirit.
Whole pie pre-orders: Whole pies are available by pre-order only and must be ordered online by Thursday, Feb. 5. Choose from cherry, blueberry, and apple. Cost is $14.00 per whole pie. Pick-up at the CLA pop-up stand inside the Lebanon Farmers Market during the event.

Branch weaving is a nature craft ideal for winter. We will take a short hike to collect materials and then head inside to learn and practice the craft.
Forever Flower Workshop – Rose at Drunken Smithy

Smithing isn’t all iron and steel. At Drunken Smithy, we work with soft metals, too!
Join us for an introduction to the art of metalworking by creating your own everlasting bloom in our flower crafting workshop featuring a different flower every month. You’ll learn to design, cut, texture, and build your own copper flower with the freedom to customize your work along the way.
For this workshop, students will learn to make one copper rose.
The workshop will take place regardless of the number of tickets sold. No minimum number of participants is required. All raw materials, tools, gloves, and safety glasses will be provided. All experience levels are welcome. Instructors will help as much or as little as you’d like. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes or boots.
The Forever Flowers fee per person for this workshop is $75.00 total.
Drunken Smithy is wheelchair-friendly and welcomes participants of all ability levels. The only restriction we have is that oxygen tanks are not permitted in our forging area or the copper and silver workshop areas.

While our screening license does not allow us to advertise the names of the movies, feel free to message us or call the church at 717-272-8251 and ask.
Children are invited to bring blankets, pillows, and stuffies to cuddle up on the floor, while we will provide chairs for their grown-ups. Note that children should not be left unattended. There is no charge to attend, and free popcorn and drinks are provided!

Mini Lecture: An Introduction to Elizabeth Furnace by Dan Snyder at Cornwall Iron Furnace Visitor Center

Quittapahilla Audubon Society Field Trip at Union Canal Tunnel Park

Charter Day – Pennsylvania’s Birthday at Conrad Weiser Homestead

This program is our first event of the season. This is, by far, our largest living history event of the year. Also, this year, we will use this day to start our celebration of America250. At noon, we will have a period divine service. There will be three French and Indian War units in attendance as well as two Revolutionary War American units. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a brief discussion of each military unit’s history. There will also be a display by Ye Olde Colonial Angler of 1770 in the Visitors Center. Weather permitting, there will be a demonstration of drills and firing by the 18th-century groups. Please come and check out our various books and redware items and enjoy the day with us. The event ends at 4 p.m. with the troops getting their daily rum ration. We hope to see you there!
The Conrad Weiser Homestead and Memorial Park is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in partnership with the Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead.
