A former Lebanon resident was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison for possessing machine guns and conspiring to manufacture firearms without a license.
Luis Rosa-Hernandez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Between June and November 2022, Rosa-Hernandez sold 31 machine gun conversion devices and two stolen handguns with reason to believe the recipient would possess or use them unlawfully, U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller said. Machine gun conversion devices are firearm parts designed to convert a semiautomatic firearm into a machine gun.
Rosa-Hernandez, originally from the Dominican Republic, is subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott F. Ford prosecuted.
