At the April 14 meeting, the South Londonderry Township Board of Supervisors did not act on a deferral request for a proposed subdivision on a parcel of land located in North Londonderry, South Annville, and South Londonderry townships.
Brent Detter from David Miller Associates, representing client Keystone Custom Homes, approached supervisors regarding the proposed subdivision, which would include more than 130 single-family units.
The development is in North Londonderry Township, east of Hoffer Road, west of Killinger Creek, and south of Landmark Homes’ subdivision Summer Layne. There is a 1.2-acre parcel in South Londonderry Township, for which Detter told supervisors no improvements are planned.
Chairwoman Faith Bucks, supervisor Bill Bova, and members of the public expressed their concerns, which included the potential increase in traffic from the proposed subdivision, specifically the impact on the intersection of Airport and South Forge roads. Vice chairman Jack Custer excused himself from the discussion due to having a professional relationship with Keystone Custom Homes.
Supervisors requested that Keystone Custom Homes provide South Londonderry Township with the traffic study report for engineer Allison Garner’s review. They also requested that Keystone Custom Homes consider contributing funds for a proposed roundabout at Airport and South Forge roads.
During the new business portion of the meeting, supervisors unanimously approved the 2027 budget development schedule, with a proposed date to vote on next year’s budget on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Supervisors also unanimously approved Resolution 10-2026, which enables South Londonderry Township to dispose of outdated records approved by the Municipal Records Manual.
In addition, supervisors unanimously okayed the South Londonderry Township Police Department’ to’s participation in the Memorandum of Agreement 287(g) Task Force.
Supervisors unanimously approved Resolution 11-2026, which names the signers — township manager, assistant manager, or board chair — for documents involved with grants for the proposed roundabout at Airport and South Forge roads.
During old business, supervisors unanimously approved an application for a special event by Campbelltown American Legion Post 831 for The Wall That Heals, which will bring the three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., to Campbelltown over Labor Day weekend. South Londonderry Township Police will support the logistics required for the event.
Supervisors also unanimously approved a letter of understanding for South Londonderry Township to be involved in a fire study by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, along with East Hanover Township, Jonestown Borough, North Londonderry Township, Palmyra Borough, and Union Township.
In addition, supervisors unanimously approved a CoStars quote in the amount of $17,895 for five tactical shields for township police.
Supervisors unanimously approved a request that RETTEW prepare an exhibit for the vacation of Prospect Road. The dead-end road only services two farms, both of which are in Conewago Township. Following the passing of an ordinance, the cost would be split evenly between South Londonderry and Conewago townships.
In other news, supervisors unanimously moved to:
- Approve the March 10 meeting minutes and the 06-26 and 07-26 bill and payroll lists.
- Approve the township manager’s report, which included South Londonderry Township being awarded a $25,000 grant from the Marcellus Legacy Fund for playground equipment at Londonderry Village Park and for pickleball lining and equipment at Country Squire Tennis Courts. The township’s goal is to have these projects completed by the end of this fall.
- Approve reports from South Londonderry Township Police, Palmyra Public Library (including its 2025 library use report), Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company, Lawn Fire Company, First Aid and Safety Patrol of Lebanon (which included its enquiry to Traditions of Hershey about space to relocate its unit there due to the retirement community being responsible for 25% of its calls), and Palmyra Area Recreation and Parks Commission.
- Approve meeting minutes from the planning commission, fire board, municipal authority, and Western Lebanon County Regional Emergency Management Agency.
Public input included an overview of areas in the township eligible for future STU funds, including the roundabout at Airport and South Forge roads, a request to apply for a grant to address flooding along Spring Creek, a request to use recreation funds to replace signage in the township, a request to prohibit vehicles from traveling on private property along Municipal Lane due to crashes on U.S. Route 322 and cite motorists who do, a request to limit parking to only one side of Barnwell Lane, and an update on the state of Dinosaur Rock and a volunteer event scheduled for Saturday, June 20.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m., at 27 W. Market St., Palmyra.
There will be a planning commission meeting on Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m., to review a land development plan for a McDonald’s at Redner’s Shopping Center.
In addition, there will be a joint municipal authority and supervisors’ workshop meeting on Wednesday, April 29, to review a draft of the revised data center ordinance, which the planning commission recommended for consideration.
